Who Knits these products?

These scarves are knitted by ladies in the villages in the hills around the Kathmandu Valley surrounding Kathmandu. They are able to fit this work around their existing roles as farmers, housewives and mothers. The advantage of simple designs such as these are that the ladies can knit with very little light, which means they can knit in the evening when there is no electricity supply and low lighting.  Being able to do piece work like this supplements their income and provides opportunities for their children to go to school and further their education. We make sure that we pay a good price for these scarves and that the knitters are paid a fair amount for their work. Buying these products helps to support these families.
